A total of 102 flights in and out of Dublin Airport have been cancelled today as a result of Storm Isha, according to daa.

As high winds continue to hit the country, the severe conditions have impacted those travelling into the airport with flights finding it difficult to land.

Dublin Airport issued an update at 5pm today, confirming a further 27 flights were diverted to other airports and 24 go-arounds took place due to high winds.

“Storm Isha is having an impact on flights at Dublin Airport today. As of 3pm, a total of 83 flights have been cancelled by airlines, including 44 incoming and 39 departing flights,” said Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at daa.

“High winds have resulted in 21 go-arounds, with 18 flights opting to divert to other airports,” he added.

Met Éireann has warned of severe winds and damaging gusts as a Status Orange warning is set to come into effect at 4pm for the entire country, with a red warning for counties Galway, Mayo and Donegal to commence later on.

With the weather conditions expected to deteriorate, Mr McQueen said further disruption to flights is possible.

“Strong winds are limiting the number of flights that can take-off, with conditions also impacting on some ground handling operations,” Mr McQueen said.

“High winds and periods of heavy rain are forecast to continue at Dublin Airport this evening, making further disruption possible. Passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for updates on the status of specific flights,” Mr McQueen added.
