Why do we travel?

This is a commercial made for www.trvl.com shot in Sri Lanka last year. The D.o.P. Rico Franse (aka Vaag Media) had about 20 hours material after 2 weeks traveling through this beautiful island what he had to shrink to 1,30 minute for the directors cut.

How did we shoot it?
– Every shot was taken with a ‘in’ and ‘out’ movement, most of the time an open f-stop on s-log2.

How did we edit it?
– This is actually a really long process, it took place for almost 4 months until it was finished. It’s like a puzzle. Every shot has to connect with a another shot by it’s color, movement and style. With a 20 hours material you could understand that it’s a hell of a job. There we’re NO FX used in this video. It’s all natural transitions made by hand while filming.

– Main Camera: Sony a7s II, Sigma 35mm, Canon 24-70. (underwater case)
– Hyperlapse Camera: Canon 6D with a 16-35 canon lens.
– Drone: DJI Phantom Pro 3
– Overall: DJI Osmo X5
