Teach Your Monster to Read: First Steps – iPad Trailer

The BAFTA-nominated, multi-award winning Teach Your Monster to Read: First Steps is to be released on tablet exclusively for the iPad, on the 24th July 2014.

The game is a phonics-based reading adventure for children aged 3 – 6. It was created and developed by The Usborne Foundation.

Children create their own monster and take it on an adventure through a magical world. They travel to colourful places, meet the mysterious Island Kings and collect rewards as their monster learns the first steps of reading.

The game helps children to develop speed and accuracy of letter recognition, plus developing their ability to blend and segment words. It follows the teaching sequence in the UK Government-recommended “Letters and Sounds” programme.

The game has been designed in collaboration with academics from Roehampton University and features Simon Farnaby from BBC’s Horrible Histories.
