Kenneth Vásquez Laya Interview with Bisila Bokoko on Negocios TV – “Slow Travel – the New Luxury”

Kenneth Vásquez Laya

On December 01, 1977, I started my travel career at Thomas Cook Travel in Pretoria, South Africa. During the early years, I jumped around a bit to get as much knowledge about the travel business as possible. So it can come as no surprise that when KLM Royal Dutch Airlines called offering me a Sales Representative position, I jumped at the chance.

Then came a call from American Express Travel Services and Foreign Exchange which I immediately accepted before returning to Thomas Cook Rennies Travel at their invitation. Finally I started up my own company – The Travel Consultant. A company that specialized in outbound leisure and business travel from South Africa.

Ten years later, I relocated to the United States and in particular New York City where I opened an extension of my company The Travel Consultant which specialized in tours and safaris to my native Africa.

Finally it was time to move on and I accepted a position at Washington DC based Africa Today TV as Senior Adviser, Destination Africa / International & National TV Host.

Now, as I travel the world filming TV episodes on Luxury Travel & Luxury Lifestyle, the next obvious progression step would be to work for Vuitton Travel & Luxury Lifestyle. So I did.

With all my years experience in the travel, airline, and hospitality industry, I choose to refer to myself now as a Luxury Travel Brand Ambassador. I have a keen eye for luxury, health & wellness and all things ‘fine’. You’ll see that come through in the TV episodes I record.
