D NO BODY #transcending – trailer

D NO BODY #transcending

Duration of the work: Between 40 and 50 min

Description:

D NO BODY is a series of Dance Installations exploring the meaning of identity and the ways in which images of ourselves are contained in others.

In part 5 of this series, three bodies stride forth in slow motion in an attempt to transcend themselves, seeking for an intangible identity.

Can a human body travel towards the loss of physicality?

Quotes from reviews:
“In their slow journey, the performers first move through space alone, to eventually search for balance and find unity. Together they form beautifully sculpted poses. (…) Tortorelli and his performers make a subtle but strong statement.
”
****(4 stars,Theaterkrant, article by Marcelle Schots, October 2017,Maastricht).

“Tortorelli takes a step back in history. Here we were back to the beginning of innocence. We were nothing but bodies: man or woman, black or white, blonde or curly hairs. (…) Following dancers’ progressive move and the comforting music, I entered into meditation, fully conscious.
(…) Who are we now? Where are we going? Questions kept pumping out when my mind was still in the astonishment. Speechless, I was distracted when applauding… (Dancevisa.com – Show Festival
Artdanthé, Paris, April 2018)

“Dario Tortorelli masterly molds these ethereal dance installations that invite us to get in touch with our self and its honest reflection.“ (Tia Asterope, guest blogger, show at The Place London, October
2017)

“In the performance D NO BODY 5 #transcending by choreographer Dario Tortorelli, we see three naked dancers slowly moving to sculptural poses. In this extremely simple way, the public is confronted with their own taboos about nudity, and related ideas about gender, skin color and sexuality.
The body of the dancer mirrors how we see ourselves. (We are public – show at Korzo Theater, The Hague, March 2018)
